Årets KURage

Årets KURage (CoUREage of the Year) is an award which the Swedish Spa Hotel Association gives to a person who during the past year has distinguished themselves through an action or accomplishment and who is now in the need of recreation.

This can be either a public or a non-public person, the main regard is that this person in some way has distinguished themselves in a positive way through their actions.

The winner is awarded a gift voucher for 10.000 SEK to be used at an establishment of their choice within the Swedish Spa Hotel Association. In this way, the association would like to draw attention to the accomplishments of this person as well as give this person an opportunity for recovery and to gather new energy for future challenges.

The members of the Facebookpage Årets KURage nominate and elect candidates, after which the Award academy evaluate all the propositions and then select the winner, who will be announced during the Spa Convention.

The award of 2009 went to Pär Johansson, founder of the theatrical society Glada Hudik, which employs both regular and mentally challenged actors.

The award of 2010 went to Bert Sundström, journalist of Swedish Television, who
was stabbed and beaten in Egypt. He assigned Årets KURage for his dauntless courage in his work as a journalist and reporter.
